Kesselhaus Reviews

Great location for electronic partys, that I visited regularly in the past twenty years. Mostly for Vandit Nights with Paul van Dyk. Last visited for the double event Venture X and Winter Vandit Night in December 2023. Bar and staff are nice, prices ok. Toiletts are clean and enough for the size of the venue. Smoking is possible in attached open environment. Entry procedure could be speed up. In my opinion the doors to the stage and bar area should be open, when the venue opens to not produce unnecessary "traffic jams" (minus one star).

We went to see Sam Tompkins. The concert was great, very nice atmosphere overall. It's a bit annoying that they only take cash payments, but we had cash prepared for that reason so it was fine. The hardest part was finding the entrance, we passed by it twice before a line was formed in front of the doors, thats when we saw that what we thought as "windows" were actually doors.

I am not an expert about sound system, but I think they have a rather good sound system than the other clubs/entertainment establishments I have been. The only weird thing was that we need to pay for the toilet use. I know it is common in Germany, but for an event which entrance we paid for already … It doesn't sit right. Toilet fee: 0,50€ single entry, 2,00€ flat-rate I wonder if it’s the industry standards, that the bouncers are not the friendliest nicest ones but they are not offensive or rude. 😬 We were there for Disclosure, sadly the schedule was not communicated well.

It took 170 years for a small storage cellar for beer barrels with a sales outlet a small storage cellar for beer barrels with a sales outlet into the Kulturbrauerei. In the meantime, the ensemble of buildings in the Prenzlauer Berg/Pankow district, which was listed as early as 1974 because of its "unique architecture", covers an area of 25,000 m² with its six courtyards and over 20 buildings. It all began in 1842 at Schönhauser Allee 39, exactly where "die Kulte" is still located. A pharmacist from Kreuzberg ran a small beer bar there on the outskirts of Berlin. A certain Jobst Schultheiss took it over in 1853, but later had to sell it again for health reasons. The man leaves, the name remains (...even today, Berlin beer drinkers with dry throats order a "Schulle" - a beer that can also be mixed with alcohol). which can still be intoned with an alcohol-soaked tongue). Through modernisation and expansion, the small business grows into a large industrial brewery. A brewhouse is built in 1871, and 10 years later a refrigerating machine is added; it represents a major innovation and is unique in modern brewing technology in Germany at the time. In order to give the rapidly expanding brewery a cohesive appearance, the architect Franz Heinrich Schwechten is commissioned in 1887 to plan an extension and conversion; a medieval castle complex serves as his model. Later, he would also design the "Gedächtniskirche" (memorial church).

Last night I attended the Mesh concert. The venue lacked adequate ventilation and I encountered unfriendly staff. It was odd to see people smoking indoors near the entrance to the concert hall while they were not allowed outside in the backyard.
