New York psych-pop band Crumb, known for blending psychedelia, pop, jazz, and rock, releases their third album AMAMA. Celebrated for hypnotic sounds and led by Lila Ramani, they've collaborated with producers Johnscott Sanford and Jonathan Rado.
Boise-based indie rockers Built to Spill, led by Doug Martsch, blend postmodern pop with Neil Young-esque jamming. Known for intricate guitar play and dynamic live shows, key albums include "Perfect from Now On" and "Keep It Like a Secret". They achieved artistic success with Warner Bros, maintaining a vibrant career across decades.
Unwound, an Olympia-based D.I.Y. punk trio, emerged in the early '90s with a mix of post-hardcore moods and dreamy punk. Known for albums like "Fake Train" and "Leaves Turn Inside You," they disbanded in 2002. Key members were Justin Trosper, Vern Rumsey, and Sara Lund. They reunited in 2022 for a tour after Rumsey's passing in 2020. Their work was reissued by Numero Group.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor, formed in Montreal, are known for their orchestral chamber rock with hypnotic crescendos. Earl Sweatshirt, born Thebe Kgositsile in Chicago, is a staple of alt-rap and horrorcore. A former Odd Future member, his acclaimed mixtape "Earl" debuted in 2010. Known for albums like "Doris," "I Don't Like Shit," and "Sick!," he collaborates with artists like Tyler, The Creator, Frank Ocean, and the Alchemist. His unique sound and lyrical depth secure his status in hip-hop.
Nilüfer Yanya, a West London native, blends indie rock, jazz, soul, and psychedelia. Known for "Small Crimes" and "Baby Luv," she gained acclaim with albums like Miss Universe and PAINLESS. Her innovative sound is shaped by influences like Pixies and Nina Simone. Collaborating with Dave Okumu and Wilma Archer, Yanya consistently expands her sonic palette.
Louisville's My Morning Jacket, known for their thrilling live shows and innovative rock sound, has deeply influenced musicians and won numerous awards.
