Bad Manners, formed during the late '70s ska revival in England, became known for their lively performances and UK hits like "Lip Up Fatty" and "Can Can." Led by dynamic frontman Buster Bloodvessel, they enjoyed renewed interest in the '90s.
The Beat, formed in Birmingham, were key to the UK ska revival in the late '70s. Known for pop melodies and taut rhythms, hits include "Mirror in the Bathroom," "I Confess," and "Save It for Later." Fronted by Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger, they split in 1983. Members later formed General Public and Fine Young Cannibals. Reunited versions toured in the 2000s.
Rhoda Dakar, born in Hampstead, London, is a key figure in British ska, known for her rich vocals. She rose to fame in the 1980s with the Bodysnatchers, signed to 2-Tone. Notable songs include "Let's Do The Rocksteady" and "The Boiler" with Special A.K.A. After a period away, she returned with solo albums like "Cleaning In Another Woman's Kitchen" (2007) and "Version Girl" (2023). Dakar collaborated with Jerry Dammers, Terry Hall, and Lynval Golding, and is also active as a DJ and political activist.
