Born in Louisville, Marshall Allen was a key member and leader of Sun Ra's Arkestra. Known for bridging bop and free jazz with African music, he played on over 200 Sun Ra albums. He collaborated with names like Babatunde Olatunji, Sonic Youth, and Medeski, Martin & Wood. His work included curating "In the Orbit of Ra" and releasing his solo debut "New Dawn" at 100.
