Suffocation, formed in New York, are death metal pioneers known for balancing brutal and technical sounds. Influential albums include Effigy of the Forgotten and Breeding of the Spawn. Achieving chart success with Blood Oath, they reformed in 2004 after a split. Collaborations have been with producers like Joe Cincotta.
