Formed in Chapel Hill in 1989, Superchunk fuses punk's D.I.Y. spirit with indie rock, delivering power pop with Mac McCaughan's honest vocals. Known for hits like "Slack Motherfucker," they remained staunchly independent on Merge Records. Albums such as Foolish, Come Pick Me Up, and Wild Loneliness showcase their diverse sound. Collaborations include John Darnielle and Katie Crutchfield. Awards include critical acclaim and cult status as indie rock pioneers. Les Savy Fav, formed at the Rhode Island School of Design, play sharp post-hardcore with witty stage antics. Known for albums like The Cat and the Cobra and Let's Stay Friends, they collaborated with artists like Eleanor Friedberger and Fred Armisen. Their live shows, powerful songwriting, and Harrington's energetic performances made them a favorite. After a hiatus, they returned with Oui, LSF in 2024.
