Toronto-based rapper and poet Rollie Pemberton, aka Cadence Weapon, blends electro-influenced hip-hop with incisive lyrics. Son of pioneer DJ Teddy Pemberton, his debut "Breaking Kayfabe" dropped in 2005. Named Edmonton's Poet Laureate in 2009, he's shared stages with De La Soul and Santigold. Cadence won the Polaris Prize for "Parallel World" in 2021 and released a memoir, "Bedroom Rapper," in 2022. Notably collaborated with Backxwash, Jacques Greene, and remixed Grimes.

Chicago-born Open Mike Eagle is a Los Angeles-based emcee known for his "art rap" style, blending humor with introspection. An affiliate of Project Blowed, he founded Thirsty Fish and released acclaimed albums like Dark Comedy and Brick Body Kids Still Daydream. Eagle co-hosts podcasts and the Comedy Central series The New Negroes. Collaborations include Hannibal Buress, Lizzo, and MF Doom. Notable works include Anime, Trauma and Divorce and Component System with the Auto Reverse.
