Bilal, a Philadelphia native, is a versatile R&B artist known for his unique voice and genre-defying style. His debut album, "1st Born Second," featured hits like "Soul Sista." Bilal is celebrated for his extensive collaborations, earning Grammy recognition with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, and Robert Glasper. Not limited to neo-soul, his music spans various genres. His albums, including "Airtight's Revenge" and "In Another Life," showcase his diverse musical influences and collaborations with talents like Questlove and Common.
George Clinton, born in Kannapolis, NC, is the legendary funk pioneer behind Parliament and Funkadelic. Known for iconic songs like "Atomic Dog," he was a key influence on hip-hop and collaborated with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar. Clinton’s live shows were monumental, earning him a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019.
Christian McBride, a nine-time GRAMMY-winning bassist and composer, is Artistic Director of Newport Jazz, NJPAC, and more. He hosts NPR's Jazz Night in America.
Born in London and raised in Brooklyn, Vernon Reid, lead guitarist of Living Colour, co-founded the Black Rock Coalition. Known for genre-bending styles from rock to jazz, he played with Defunkt and Public Enemy and gained acclaim with Living Colour's "Vivid." He collaborated with Mick Jagger, and in 1996 released his solo debut "Mistaken Identity." Reid continues as a session guitarist and producer, notably with James Blood Ulmer, and co-formed Free Form Funky Freqs.
