Missing Persons, born in 1980s L.A., is a new wave band known for hits like "Walking in L.A." and "Words." Fronted by Dale Bozzio, they mixed pop with synth innovation.
The Untouchables, a pioneering West Coast ska band, debuted in 1984 with "Live & Let Dance." Known for blending R&B covers with reggae rhythms, they recorded "Wild Child" in 1985 and "Agent Double O Soul" in 1989. The group featured Chuck Askerneese and Clyde Grimes among others and released their final live album, "Decade of Dance," in 1990.
Formed in Detroit, 1977, The Romantics, known for "That's What I Like About You," blended power pop with a high-energy style. Achieved gold with "In Heat" album, featuring hits like "Talking in Your Sleep." Known for energetic live shows and vintage style.
Animotion, known for '80s synth pop hits like "Obsession" and "Room to Move," achieved early success but faced lineup changes, briefly shining before disbanding. Reunited later, focusing on nostalgic appeal.
Belinda Carlisle, born in Hollywood, was the lead singer of the Go-Go's, a popular new wave band known for hits like "Our Lips Are Sealed." Going solo, she released top-charting albums featuring hits like "Mad About You" and "Heaven Is a Place on Earth," transitioning to mainstream success. She explored various musical styles, including French chanson and Buddhist chants. Carlisle collaborated with Diane Warren and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with the Go-Go's in 2021.
London's Wang Chung, originally Huang Chung, soared in the '80s US music scene with hits like "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" & "Dance Hall Days." Known for new wave style, they focused on the US market, collaborating with major labels like Arista & Geffen.
