Joseph Pierre Torry, known professionally as Joe Torry, is an American comedian, actor, and screenwriter from St. Louis, Missouri. Best known as the former host of HBO's Def Comedy Jam and for his memorable role alongside Janet Jackson and Tupac Shakur in John Singleton's 1993 film Poetic Justice, he has also appeared in films like House Party and Strictly Business. An alumnus of Lincoln University, Torry has established a prolific career spanning stand-up, television, and film, and is recognized for his philanthropic work through his Giving Back the Love Foundation.
