Spotlights, the husband-and-wife duo of Mario and Sarah Quintero, from Brooklyn, captivate with their spacey, dense distortion sound. Debuting in 2016 with "Tidals," they caught attention with "Walls," leading to a tour invitation from Deftones. Signed by Ipecac Recordings, their album "Seismic" (2017) was praised by Revolver and others. They’ve toured with Melvins and Glassjaw and collaborated with Allen Epley. In 2019, they released "Love and Decay," featuring drummer Chris Enriquez.
Ringo Deathstarr, formed in Beaumont, TX, blends late-'80s indie pop, shoegaze, and dream pop. Known for albums like Colour Trip and 2020's self-titled release, the band, led by Elliott Frazier, toured with Smashing Pumpkins.
Baroness, formed in 2003 in Savannah, GA, is famed for its DIY ethic and genre-bending style. Notable albums include The Red Album, Blue Record, and the Grammy-nominated Gold & Grey. Their acclaimed releases have earned "Album of the Year" titles from Revolver and Decibel, with Rolling Stone praising Purple. They launched their label, Abraxan Hymns, in 2015.
Formed in 1992, Shiner toured with acts like Sunny Day Real Estate and released their debut LP, Splay, in 1996. Albums include Lula Divinia and Starless. Known for collaborating with Hum and Descendents, they disbanded in 2002 but reunited to release "Schadenfreude" in 2020. Members have played in Open Hand, Sie Lieben Maschinen, and The Life and Times.
Slow Mass, formed in 2015 in Chicago, creates a unique mix of post-hardcore and indie rock. Known for "On Watch," praised by Pitchfork, they've toured with La Dispute, collaborated widely, and produced notable EPs like the "Music For Ears" series. The band continually evolves, featuring a fluid lineup and distinct sound.
