Rakim, born in Wyandanch, Long Island, is a legendary rapper known for his smooth, jazz-influenced flow and intricate lyrics. As part of Eric B. & Rakim, he released classics like *Paid in Full* and *Follow the Leader*. Rob Base, born Robert Ginyard in Harlem, is best known for the hip-hop classic "It Takes Two" with DJ E-Z Rock. The duo's album went platinum and Spin named it Single of the Year. MC Lyte, a pioneering rapper and actress from Brooklyn, is the first female rapper Grammy-nominee and first to go gold. She’s performed at Carnegie Hall, the White House, and received numerous honors, including B.E.T.'s I AM HIP HOP award.
