Raised singing gospel in church, she developed a gritty, powerful voice influenced by R&B, soul, garage rock, and punk rock. Alongside her guitar-playing husband Matt Hill, she has established a reputation for high-voltage live performances and a raw, revivalist sound, releasing acclaimed independent albums including Here's Nikki Hill, Heavy Hearts Hard Fists, and Feline Roots.
