Moviola is an American indie rock and alternative country collective formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 1993. Originally started by singer and guitarist Jake Housh at Ohio State University, the band evolved into a highly democratic five-piece lineup featuring Housh, Ted Hattemer, Greg Bonnell, Jerry Dannemiller, and Scotty Tabachnick, with all members swapping instruments and contributing as singers and songwriters. Characterized by their lo-fi DIY aesthetic, their music has evolved over three decades from spare, noisy indie rock into eccentric indie pop, folk, and country-soul. Their extensive discography includes their 1996 debut album The Year You Were Born, the critically acclaimed The Durable Dream (1999), Scrape and Cuss (2020), and Earthbound (2026).
