The Delines were formed by Richmond Fontaine's Willy Vlautin after being inspired by Amy Boone's voice. The band features Sean Oldham, Freddie Trujillo, and Cory Gray. Vlautin, acclaimed as a novelist and songwriter, has seen his work praised by major publications and has had novels adapted into films, including "Lean on Pete". Ursula K. Le Guin praised Vlautin as a brave novelist.
